Q9550/9650

qx9650/9770

I believe the Q9550 is still readily available. If you can find one, the Q9650, or even the Extreme QX9770 if you're feeling really ridiculous. biggrin.gif

EDIT: Segovax beat me frown.gif

Non Extreme- Q9650

Extreme- QX9770

Q9550 is the best, cost/performance.

Look my sig and you'll see what i got from Qx9650 revised C1 stepping, the horrible performing Qx9650 that gave a bad name were the C0 stepping... One thing you must know is you can buy the Qx9650 OEM on ebay for 200-300$ get the same performance i have but you can't cheap out on a Mother board for C2Q, they are very Dependant on a good north bridge...

Last but not least all yorkfields cant with stand anymore than a max 1.36VTT thats the danger zone..

Q9650 (they are all E0 stepping) and Q9550 E0 stepping are the best choice..

From wht I`ve seen Q9650 needs a bit more Vcore than Q9550 E0 for the same OC and runs a bit hotter too..

But Q9650 has 9x multi vs 8.5x of Q9550..

Still I would go for Q9550 E0..

CHEERS..

I've had 2 Q9650's E0 in my hands and they have not ran better or hotter than the Extreme C1 Qx9650. And the only reason most Q9550's run cooler is because of the TDP revision done which adds the "S" at the end of 9550S.
Not to mention once you find a stable FSB lets say 450 with the Enthusiast version you can change the multiplier to whatever you wish by increasing Vcore and decrease till you find the lowest stable point.

You cant compare the Any Enthusiast CPU with a another CPU Saying this letter is higher on the Alphabet, Most of the time it has to do with how good or how many times it was re-manufactured, IF the changed there method to improve the chip( bananas and oranges in this case my friend)

Btw those results in my sig are air results especially the 510FSB.

That and he can't afford a 9650 or 9550 mainstream =P They are way too expensive, although OEM Qx9650 i can get it in your hands new for 250ish, you can select from what part of the tray, if your religious to think the center has better or corners =P mine was from center, Picked it out on webcam.

I wasn`t talking about QX9650 at all..

My Q9550 does 4GHz with 1.30V (LOAD) so I don`t see your point ..

That 510MHz FSB of yours is due your mobo compared to my 506MHz FSB on this P5Q Pro so it has nothing to do with your CPU being better OCer than Q9550 E0..

Yeah QX vers. is better if you can cool it properly for OCing over 4GHz and if you have mobo that can`t do high FSB freq..

And don`t confuse Q9550 E0 (TDP 95W) with Q9550S (TDP 65W) as they are different chips in the first place..

CHEERS..
