I don't know what keyboard to get.

I am thinking about getting a keyboard, but I have no idea what I should get. I do some gaming, but I don't really see the advantage of a stupid LCD panel on the keyboard and I really don't use any damn G buttons either. I am just saying that I game to let you guys know just in case I need some special frag button that kills everyone or whatever the hell gaming keyboards do for gaming.

I mostly use a keyboard for typing and not making bread or using it to kill babies in the womb so I would like one that is good for typing. I don't know if I want a mechanical one or not. There must be some reason people say they are good so I guess I would consider one since they are suppose to be so great and give your fingers an orgasm.

I would very much like one with an LED or some glow key stuff. I think that would help. I am not sure if Razor is a good companies or it is just hype. I mentioned that since the first thing I think of when dealing with a mechanical and light up keyboard is the Black Window. I do know that having that doesn't leave me with much options, especially with a mechanical keyboard so that is why I am saying it doesn't have to be a mechanical and maybe not LED I don't really know.

Top priority is a nice keybaord to type on since I have finally noticed that I can type better/faster on a laptop keyboard or another keyboard than this $20 one I have.

My budget..ehh I don't know. I might buy it used or something it if it too expensive. I find it hard to spend $100 or anywhere near that on a damn keyboard. I am not sure why since I use a keyboard alot, it is just one of those things.

So help me out people!

Thanks

Rosewill RK-9000 is a LOT cheaper than the backlit Blackwidow. Ditch the backlighting and learn to type.

I promise, I wouldn't need a nice typing keyboard if I couldn't type. Sometimes I just have to turn on the light for special functions or something. I don't know, I can't explain.

I will look into the Black Window and try to find the difference between that and the Ultimate as well as the Rosewell and Gigabyte . I just hope that Razer is a good brand and not just hype, but I don't know much about keyboards anyways. Maybe there is a Black Window at a best buy I can see. Hmmm

Thanks for liking my bread and babies comment. I feel special

The difference between the ultimate and basic Black Widows is that the Ultimate has an extra USB port, a headphone and mic jack, and has back light keys. An alternative to the Razer is the XArmor U9BL. I prefer the XArmor, because it has the backlighting like the Ultimate, but retains a nice simple layout and isn't a finger print magnet. Both are good though.

A thing to consider is the switch as well. Both the Black Widow and the XArmor use Cherry MX Blue switches, which are loud, tactile (they feel and sound clicky), and have the reset point above the actuation point. The tactile feel and sound of the Cherry MX Blues, makes them popular with typist and people that type a lot. I for one love the feel, and much prefer it over rubber dome or linear switches (Specifically Cherry MX Blacks).

However, there is one major thing to consider. Because the reset point is above the actuation point, there is a small window in there where a double tap could fail. For instance you press a key and hold it down, then you let it rise a little, but not to a resting position and press it again. If you are within that tiny window (about 1mm and in the milliseconds) the double tap won't register. Now, there are a lot of people who are completely unaffected by this, and if you look at it realistically, its a pretty small window for there to be an issue. However, some people do have problems gaming with them.

If you get a keyboard with Cherry MX Blue switches, I recommend getting it from a good retailer who will let you return it should you have problems. Otherwise, you may be able to game perfectly on it, and enjoy the typing sensation of the tactile response.

I also recommend that you read the mechanical guide section stickied in this forum.,
Slowly upgrading.
