Steelseries 6GV2 help finding..

Hey OCN

Can't seem to find this keyboard anywhere. Not even on eBay. Is it just only on steelseries website?

Looking for this keyboard on a UK ONLY website.

I also heard there is nothing different between the 6GV2 and the 7G, all I heard that is different is the wrist wrest, headphone in/out, multimedia keys and USB?

If you find a website with this keyboard on thanks! Although it's €79.99 on steelseries website, I was looking if I could find it anywhere cheaper before purchasing it!

BMorrisSly

EDIT: I think it will have to be off the SteelSeries website, I can't seem to find it anywhere else..

7G has a shortened backspace, opposed to standard lenght backspace on 6gv2.

I bought 6gv2 from here, but I doubt they ship to UK. The website also states they have 1 last 6gv2 on stock.
is the lack of ps/2 really a big deal? One of my main reasons for wanting the 7g over the 6gv2 is the native ps/2 plug but I'm not sure it's worth the extra price.

I know they provide an adapter but with the adapter attached it gives the plug too much leverage on the ps/2 port which bothers me.

Looks like there are some 7g's on ebay. Didnt see any 6gv2's though.

Due to the lack of availability of these lately, it makes me wonder if steelseries is gearing up to release a new mech keyboard.

If you are new to mech keyboards, I would recomend you determine which switch type would be most appealing to your style of typing. If your already settled on cherry blacks, and like the sort of funky layout of the SS 7g/6gv2 than go for it. Otherwise I wouldn't be so fixated on one particular board like the SS.

If you look, you can find some nice alternatives.

I've never tried a mech keyboard, although I heard they are really good. All I want is a standard looking steel series keyboard like the 6G or 7G to go with my mouse etc. Although I had a look at their other keyboards and they haven't got a lot of choice to be honest, a load of WoW keyboards and a shifting one which doesn't look nice IMO.

There are some other alternatives to SS when it comes to mech keyboards. Elitekeyboards will soon carry a variety of Leopold keyboards. They should offer in both full size and tenkeyless models as well as the variaty of the cherry mx switches (with the exception of reds). You can read more about them here:

http://www.geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=13258

You can also buy a ducky fullsize from ebay (doesnt look like he currently has any browns up for auction):

http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories

Better to narrow down the switch type you think would suite your preference best, then start looking for makes, models available with that switch type. Just my 2¢

Well, the PS/2 port is kinda pretty. Someday might be a collectors item since gold ones are prettttty rare.

theres really no point in going ps2 in a fps. u only have 5 fingers on 1 hand, so unless u double press on 2 fingers theyre going to register all the keys anyways.
