motherboard replacement

Thread Starter
It's becoming that time. Time to replace that old motherboard of mine for something better (and more compatible with my SSD). I use mATX boards as I don't really like giant computers when, for the most part, mATX systems can do just about everything ATX systems can do.

Of course, it's also because I only have a mATX case (and a dang nice one).

I'm thinking about grabbing these three items off of newegg
I can't recylce the CPU and RAM from my old motherboard as they are different sockets and the RAM is DDR2 while this board is DDR3.

I'm wondering if there's any way to bring this price down further. I know that's not the best CPU, but perhaps there's a cheaper AM3 board with two PCI-e slots? I kind of want to be able to upgrade to two video cards in the near future.

Asus or gigabyte may be a bit cheaper.
I would get 1600MHz Ram. the mobos will support it with a little overclocking and you could always run at lower speeds and tighten timings.
Absolutely nothing wrong with your CPU choice. They overclock quite well.

Jetway has a Matx mobo with 2 PCIe 16 slots (8x/8x) but the MSI better.

I would try and get a phenom 2, that L3 cache makes a heck of a difference in some games

How trustworthy is the Jetway brand?

And I want to get a PhenomII, but I need to go cheaper for now. Besides, the CPU I picked is still better then my current one.

Or not?

that 640 will smoke your old CPU and its ancestors ! it's a quad-core mate, of course its alot stronger. athlon II X4 series is the best bang for the buck

I think you can get corsair XMS3 1600 ram for a tad higher, just look around abit

I ask again, how trustworthy is Jetway?

Even though i'm not familiar with this perticular brand it's features look pretty decent. Board layout is ok and what looks to be sufficient cooling on the pwm part of the board.

I have no experience with Jetway, but I have a friend who's had 3 of them, and they've all been great for him. I tried googling some reviews for that mobo, but I couldn't come up with anything.

That's all I got...
