But yes, the performance is VERY close. I think the feature set should determine your card choice more than anything.
Probably the frame buffer of the 570 not holding up, because at 2560x1600 the 69702gb can at times, destory the 570. It's always good to have more vram I think.

Is it just me or does it seem that there is no difference between 6950 and 6970 CF performance?

Look if you have a 2560x1600 monitor then get a 6970, otherwise the 570 wins in most games.

However it is close and I am awaiting new ati drivers.

Lol, OP, care to explain these? The 6970 does not beat the 580 in performance.

This thread is a waste of every ones time, and OP is just trying to start a flame war on nVidia.

Unlocking cards can damage said card, especially with the RAM having a chance of being burnt out. People are already experiencing some artifacting and are having to downclock the card. I have news for you, you burn out your GPU and try and RMA it, it will probably be denied.

That doesn't make the 69xx any less of a good deal. The performance gain from unlock is not in any way worth the risk, especially when you can get almost 6970 performance by overclocking the 6950.

The 570 SLi is a better deal for games at resolutions of 1920 x 1200 w/ 4x AA due to the performance to price ratio. 6970s are the better performance deal at 1920 x 1200 w/ 8x AA and higher resolutions due to the VRAM allowing continued performance at higher resolutions.

More VRAM is not always better at lower resolutions, but if you need it, then you need it.

I hate threads like this as it usually entices the newer people or less experienced to go flashing their vBIOSes left and right and encouraging them to make uninformed decisions about their hardware.

DX9, no AF, low resolution for multi-monitor...isn't it obvious. And one of the benches the 69702gb in f1 2010 > the GTX570. So you did prove one of my points by posting that bench.

pointless topic is pointless. neither the Nvidia fanboys are gonna accept that nvidia just got hit in the face nor AMD fanboys are gonna accept that 6950CF (unlocked) can hardly come close to 580 sli !
bang for the buck yesss, I too agree but dont compare 580sli to 6950CF !!!

Look at your pocket and buy...what is all this yelling for ???

First, It is plain stupid to take one websites review and state that as fact. Every reviewer has different numbers because there isn't a set standard which upon reviews are done. Each is different.

Second, I dont care what reviews say, I believed them when I thought a 5970 was a good video card. Actually owning one is a different story, Stuttering in Bad Company 2. Slow down near smoke/dust. StarCraft 2 units disappearing etc..,Just problems all around. With Nvidia it has never been a problem. Until ATi rewrites their entire drivers code, Hell copies whatever makes Nvidia so successful who cares just get it working because I will never "Cheap-out" and go ATi again.
