System went down today. Time to upgrade and have a question.

Hello everyone,

I have read the sticky information at the top of this forum and have thoroughly confused myself. I am interested in buying the AMD Phenom II X4 925 or 945 processor to pair with an ASUS board, but I am not sure which memory I should be looking into. My main computer went down today, and I am going to have to order these parts tomorrow (Monday). I hate to ask instead of educating myself on the subject, but honestly, I am running out of time. I would like to be able to overclock, but I have not overclocked a newer system. My old system consists of DDR 333 and an AMD Athlon 64 3000+. I don't want to waste money on DDR3 2000 memory if I do not need the headroom to overclock with. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Parts I am considering: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.565005

Go with a good set of DDR3 1600 and you be fine.
What is your budget on the memory?

The 925/945/955 are C2 or C3 revision processors that do not reach 2000Mhz easily.
Some more 1600Mhz RAM choices I have for you in addition to dixson's:
Corsair XMS3 1600 9-9-9 - $50, 40 AR
PNY XLR8 1600 8-8-8 - $60, 40 AR
G.Skill NQ 1600 9-9-9, $45 after promo code (no rebate)

I will be using Windows 7. Is there a different processor I should be considering, or should I stick with the current plan and choose from the options you have talked about?

Do you know if it the 32 bit or 64 bit version?

X86 is the 32 bit. You need the 64 bit.
X86 = 32bit
X64 = 64bit
