XFX 6850 overclocking issue?

Thread Starter
I'm fairly new to computer so i am just learning, sorry if i sound stupid.
Anyways, i bought the XFX 6850 Black Edition and used ATI Overdrive and put both CPU and Memory clock settings to the max (875, 1250). When i did that my screen started to have a seizer, the screen was flashing, distorting and what not. I also noticed i got a good drop in Fps from when i bought it to now, when playing on BF:BC2 from high 50s and low to mid 60s to around high 40s and low-mid 50s. The card also seems to be getting louder.Could there be something wrong or am i just being paranoid?

Thanks and i would really appreciate your experienced help.

Well, putting them to max generally means that you've outdone the recommended/safe specifications. This probably also means an overheating of your GPU (Correct me if I'm wrong; fairly sure i'm wrong here)

Set them back to default settings. The Black Edition is already overclocked, so doing more so would probably net you a damaged card.

Bottom line; best not to set anything to max.

(:

Hope that helps.

You would need more voltages for your OC. 1250 on the memory is too much for stock volts.
