PCIe SSD Motherboard Support on Gigabyte 790X?

I've got my trusty Gigabyte 790X. Now this thing has been my trusty steed for a good while now. I'm looking into purchasing a new SSD for my OS drive. I want to use a 50GB PCIe SSD drive. Now I know not all boards have the ability to boot to PCIe devices, hence my thread. I've sent out an email to Gigabyte asking them if it is supported or not, but I am hoping someone has some first hand experience.

My motherboard is the Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4. Product page below.

My dream SSD is the OCZ RevoDrive OCZSSDPX-1RVD0050. Product page below.

If i can't boot to PCIe I'll probably just grab this one. Product page below.

The PCI-E SSD comes with it's own SATA controller so there's nothing motherboard-dependent about it, etc. etc. etc. All you'd need are proper OS driver support and you win note that both PCI-E slots will be running at x8 (including the graphics card one) for this to work, but x8 + a 4850 is nothing to worry about.

Ok so I'll see the PCIe SATA controller start up alongside the onboard one? That reassures me i can keep my 4xRAID0 then! Lets hope and pray Windows 7 loves me.

I really don't think that it'll at all try to replace the onboard controller. Remember that on the 790X-UD4P and 790XT-UD4P there's already a secondary Marvell controller that can be enabled or disabled that is designed to work alongside the SB750 and provide extra SATA ports. Anyways, good luck!

It only has four SATA ports so I think you may be mistaken.

Gigabyte also confirmed that there was an "addin card" option in the boot sequence, but claims I'll need to set it myself. Looking at trying to axe all four of my 160GB drives for $20-25/each. Using the extra money I'd hop over to the 120GB Revo and cut mechanical storage out of my machine almost entirely. I might ditch the DVD drive as well just because I don't use it, and so I can say I'm 99% solid state. I just wonder how much those ionic wind fans cost now.

Oh, I confused the UD4P for the DS4. Either way, it should work just as well, but I'm not entirely sure.
