750i wont boot

Thread Starter
Hello,
My friend and I were messing with the clocks on the xfx 750i to get it for a modest overclock. nothing serious, just a little bump.
Reset cmos appers to be not working. We've tried every combination possible, taking the battery out and trying to jump, using the button to reset cmos upon boot but nothin. so any ideas? any help is appreciated.

Did you flip the power switch off in the back, unplug it, then plug it back in?

sometimes weird stuff like that works.

I would take the battery out and leave it overnight.

Yes, it powers on, and the hdd indicator light stays solid. No post, but system runs and hard drives spin up.

Yes, he's tried several combinations of hitting the cmos clear button, cycling the power, and removing the battery.

Here's what he's done:
-Powered off, held the cmos reset button for 10 seconds, released button, powered on. No post.
-Removed battery, waited a few minutes, replaced battery, powered on. No post.
-Jumped battery contacts with a screwdriver for 10 seconds, replaced battery, powered on. No post.
-Removed battery, powered on. No post.
-Held cmos reset button, powered on. No post.

There is no cmos reset jumper. I'm at a loss as to why the cmos is not being cleared. My current suggestion for him is to leave the battery out overnight.

Hmm okay.

here is some other stuff to try cause Im going to bed lol:

  • take all your components out and see if it boots outside the case.
  • take your ram out and try each stick
  • clear cmos AGAIN
  • take your CPU out and stick it back in
  • change the battery
  • push the BIOS chip in or pull it out with a chip puller then make sure the chip is all the way in

good luck
