New Nvidia Build, 3k budget - Page 4

I have NO issues with people having there own preferences and if Nvidia is yours that's fine. I have SLI GTX 260's in my backup rig and CF'd 5870 in current so I go back on forth depending on architecture. However, I read an article saying you can flash a 6950 bios with a 6970 and CF those which is BASICALLY 60$ more than a SINGLE 580 and trades blows with SLI 580. I thought it was awesome and recommend (if you're open, if not thats your own choice) looking into it considering it would save you $300-$400? heres the article
http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...ng/vidcard/159
P.S. - a lot of ppl hesitate to do these because they think'll be difficult or their card will brick, recognize the bottom there (at the time of me posting this) 100% sucess rate.

Oooh ... the 6950's can be unlocked to 6970's via bios flash? I did not know that until just now, thanks for the info.

Now THAT makes me kinda interested in the 6900 series all of a sudden. I like's me cards that can be unlocked to better cards

So, Einstein ... without benchmarking of some sort, how do you measure and compare 'real-world performance'? I suppose you like to rely on this sort of thing:

Web Forum Person 1: I haz the 6970 and I play Metro totally maxed out at 130fps!!
Web Forum Person 2: I haz the 570 and I play Metro totally maxed out at 120fps!!!

Overclocker956: See everyone, in 'real-world performance' teh 6970 is 1337est card evah!!!

I just happen to be a Nvidia fan, the card thts in my current rig was actually suppose to be a 4850 but I got pissed when it arrived DOA and impatient so I went to Worst Buy and picked up the gtx 260.

I wish I could afford gtx 580's but its just not gonna happen that way, in fact I might just even wait for the 560's just so I can get a custom WC loop from the get go.

As for the monitor im interested tho, very interested.

Ive always used WDs never had one fail on me, I like samsungs other products tho so it might be good looking into.

Nice flame bait attempt, too bad no one is falling for it, since everyone knows the truth, troll elsewhere.

btw - have you thought about waiting for Sandy Bridge to come out?

Early reports show the 2600k overclocking to 4.5-5.0 GHZ on air.

For current 1366 owners the upgrade is not worth it ( I'll be waiting for Ivy Bridge instead ), but for new builds, it may be worth looking into.

The NDA lifts January 6, so all benchmarks etc will be out then.

Are you going with the Rampage for a specific look? If it were up to me, I'd go with the Sabertooth X58, but that's me.

And, I'll also jump on the go "better" than the 932 - HAF X, NZXT Phantom, Obsidian 700/800

I was actually looking at the Phantom, the red edition looks really nice.

What did this have to turn into an Nvidia Vs. ATI thread? Jesus, your build looks great to me when the exception of the PSU and I would go with an Intel 80GB SSD and 1 TB F3

If you're set on a 1366, at that resolution I'd dump one of the 570s and get a 970 chip.
