SR-2/i7 Benchmarks

Thread Starter

I thought some people may like to see some benchmarks comparing an SR-2 to an i7, and then I will add SB to the mix in when it is released.

SR-2 System Specs:
CPU: 2 x E5620 (8 cores, 16 threads) @ 3.8 Ghz
GPU: GTX 480 (800 core, 1600 shader, 1900 memory)
Ram: 6GB Mushkin DDR3 1600 7-8-7-20
Motherboard: EVGA SR-2

i7 System Specs:
CPU: W3520
GPU: GTX 480 (800 core, 1600 shader, 1900 memory)
Ram: 6GB Mushkin DDR3 1600 7-8-7-20
Motherboard: EVGA Classy3

SB System Specs:
TBD

Game benchmarks will be done with all settings maxed out. If there are other settings you would like me to test, let me know.

Games:
- Team Fortress 2
- Call of Duty: Black Ops
- Flight Simulator X
- Crysis
- Battlefield: Bad Company 2
- Fallout 3
- Metro 2033

Benchmarks:
-PCMark 05
-3DMark 11
-3DMark Vantage
-Folding@Home
-Cine

I plan to test all three systems with the same exact hardware, only the motherboard and the cpu will be changed.

Here is what I have so far, I will update as I go.

I'm curious about 3DMark11. It seems like a bench heavy enough to stress this beast

I guess I will have to buy a copy unless someone has one...

TBH what I'm sure most of us would like to see is the benchmark with and without CPU2 disabled, to show how much work that extra CPU is doing, if any

I was originally going to do that, however, chances are that no one will run one cpu. People will either do an i7 build, or an SR-2 build, not a single cpu in an SR-2.

I will do that test if you would like me to, I agree it will be interesting, it just probably won't be what anyone is going to be using.

hmm... I am getting a processor not recognized error with all of the 3DMark programs. It seems others are having similar issues. Once I figure out what's wrong I'll be sure to update OP with more data; but for now, here are all the benchmarks I'll be running. Time to go back to stock...

Let me know if you want something else.

sure, I'll do it later tonight

Please, that would be great. But do run the Cinebench test with 2 processors rather than 1 disabled. I currently have a SR-2 and 2 e5620(s) on a bench waiting to be put together. I'll be using H-70(s) to cool them and I'm dying to know if I can also reach 3.8Ghz or not.

How are you cooling those e5620(s)? Also, what case did you go with?
