As for the tool it’s on their website. I don’t know if the link will work but from what the instructions you install this tool and it automatically downloads the latest firmware and installs it.

I think the problem with mine was that one of the drives was 3.4.6 firmware (the latest) and the other was 3.1.0, no BSOD or disk boot failure since update.

Finally got the firmware update tool to recognize the drive. Had to make the drive a single partition instead of the 2 partitions I had on it. The tool recognized the drive then and did the update no problem.

I get a really high temp reading (56 C) after updating the FW. The readings before was down in the mid 20s. Weird no?

My WD Black 7,2k 1TB doesn't go above 24c lol.

I think those temps may be a little off.

The FW update has caused my temp. reading to shoot up also, 61C. I 'm sure that can't be right, ambient room is 20C, has to be a FW issue. CPU is idling at 27C.
