Thread Starter
hi, im new to the whole world of overclocking and i have a few question
sooo heres my rig
intel dual core e5200
ASUS Silent Square EVO cooler
750i evga nforce
evga 8800gt superclock ed
twin2x 800mhz 5-5-5-18 ddr2 4gb ram
320gb ide hdd
650w psu
from what i understand from reading about overclocking, i just change the front bus size in the bio setting to raise my core speed. im wondering if thats correct?
And heres my other question: im knda scared and was wondering how much do you think i can overclock my cpu where it is stable right now its 2.5ghz and its running at 50-60C on stock cooler(ive just ordered my cooler and motherboard)
any suggestion?
thanks in advance

Well its more then that.

Every time you change your FSB speed move the core voltage up by .1-.4

on till you get a stable.

Afterward run Prime95 to test if your CPU is stable.

Please maksure your ram dont cross the max frequency meaning if you have 1066Mhz ram dont cross 1066mhz if you dont have proper cooling for memory.

And always remember OC void warranty.

he means if your ram is 800mhz make sure it stays at 800. by changing cpu clocks (fsb and such) and multipliers the ram is directly linked to it. so that changes the ram clocks (ram speed example yours is 800mhz).

i remember when i overclocked my q9550 i had the fsb at 450 and ram multi at 2 so my ram hit 900mhz (450x2=900)
