Need more storage

So I have WD Caviar Black 640Gb drive, but I'm running low. At the moment I have only 20Gb left so I just ordered WD Caviar Green 1TB as it was on sale in Latvia and it's cool and quiet but I'm bit worried about speed. How fast is it?
I'll leave my Caviar Black splited in two partitions one 100Gb for Windows 500Gb for Documents and for all te movies and music I'll use Cavar Green.
It wont slow down my sistem? what is read/write speed for Caviar Green compared to Caviar Black?

The Black is a 7200 rpm, and the Green is likely a 5400 rpm drive, so the Green is a bit slower, but unless you are doing massive ammounts of data transfer, you will not notice any difference, especially if the Green is being used as a storage drive.

Greens are great for storage use. They're low RPM and spin down and up depending on usage. You'll see a pretty significant read/write speed difference (about 30% faster for Caviar Black). But if you're looking to save money and want a quieter drive that you'll be using just for storage, then definitely get Green.

I'm not sure what the price and availability of the Samsung Spinpoint F3 are like in Latvia, but if you can find that for about the same price, it's a better option.

Well
100Gb from Caviar Black is good for windows as I do reinstalls every 2-3months
500Gb 2nd Caviar Black partition is planty for documents, images and other important files
1Tb will be for Blu-Ray and DVD colection.
So it's ok?

Well Spinpoint F3 are about the same price in Latvia but I really don't like them. My friend had two of them and both died after a year or so and I have read bad feedbacks of this HDD so I'll stick with WD.

Thanks for help and +rep

Yes, for video collection the Greens will be just fine.

That's strange to hear about the F3s. They're widely considered to be the overall best HDDs and I have used several of them with no problems. He must have had bad luck with his particular ones.

If its the 1TB WD Green below...
7200 RPM, 32MB cache, 3 yr warranty
A friend has several and they provide great video transfer from his home server to his HDTV via wireless net.
WDBAAY0010HNC-NRSN 1TB

Search you specific drive by number at WD.com for specific specs.
