TV Tuner Cards...??? :/

Thread Starter
im not sure whether this is the corrct place for this thread, so if it could go somewhere else feel free to move it....
i was thinking that i would like to be able to watch TV, possibly HDTV on my computer; so i dont have to go downstairs and annoy my parents to change the channel

I have no idea wat to look for in TV cards so wondered if anyone on here could help.... i would like to be able to watch HD channels, but thats just a bonus.
could any recommendation please be made to help me out

Plus i do live in the UK so newegg or any other sites that dont ship here will not be very helpful. i would prefer to keep shipping to a minimum as well.

Many thanks

Do you just run the coax straight into the card, or is there some sort of intermediate component involved on those?

Just straight in. I have it hooked up to my direct TV and it works great. Just dont have HD in that particular room, wanted to try it out though.

you can stick it in a 16x slot too.

or there are always PCI versions.

Really noobish question, reading the info on this card (saw it will go in an x16 slot) do u actually need to plug in any form of satellite or aerial?

EDIT: Saw that in the set-up manual that you do need to do the above, but how would i be able to do it if the satellite cable comes into the house in our Lounge (which is downstairs and across the hallway)?

What do you mean? You plug the coax cable of whatever your TV is, cable, or satellite and install WinTv and your good to go. They have pretty good instructions.
