Coming from a Q6600, I want the latest and greatest. I'll spend a few extra $$ and get a SB setup. I have electric bills to think of too If I had a 1366 system, I would not upgrade though.

A 1366 System over all performance is higher then SB.
Lolwut? SB will OC higher and has a clock for clock advantage.

The extra bandwidth does nothing, since even with PCIe 1.1 bandwidth there is almost no difference between 1156 and 1366.

This won't be the case either. SB has double the bandwidth Lynnfield does, so 3 and 4 card setups should be fine. You'll probably need quad-SLI GTX 580s just to notice a difference. The PCIe controller is better on Sandy Bridge, which more than makes up and differences in bandwidth.

Gaming pure fps, basically no difference, even 1156 edge the 1366 plattform also in some cases.
1366 has to disable HT in order to match the performance of 1156.

The make matters worse, SB will likely clock higher on air than 1366 will on water, even limited to 100mhz intervals.

Face it. Your 3 year old processor was outdated when Lynnfield came out, and now you're 2 generations behind the ball. You're the new Socket 939, and AM3 is just around the corner.

I gotta be honest, I am with you on the point that I7 is plenty strong, but between the need to setup this thread/poll and this post about 980x owners making you angry, it seems SB isnt your issue, its the idea of people having better equipment than you.....

You want to describe that im jealous. Im not.
I just want to explain that people who already have 1366 should not buy SB.

About the post you quoted, i just always denied the 980x, i think it not worth the money thats why i angry people get it, even if i had money for dual Xeons, quad-SLI GTX580 and 9 SSDs in RAID 0 i would not getting them.

It's not really downgrading. It's more side stepping. What are you losing besides money?

I mean if it's faster clock per clock and it's showing that it is and it overclocks higher, no reason not to buy it coming from something else.

I personally encode a lot so i enjoy me a fast CPU, but not enough to drop a grand. I mean the only downgrade is pci-e lanes and really I can't even afford 3+ graphics cards.

Basically I'm just trying to say they are going to have trade offs really and it depends on what is important to you, I have evaluated the options and i think it's the way to go coming from a old system.

I know your beef is with upgrading from 1366, but i kinda just wanna hear you say it.....

I just can't see "upgrading" from my x58 Classified and i7 920... The little improvement I may gain doesn't out weigh the price I'm sure I'd have to pay..

I dont buy it, its one thing to not agree with someones purchase, but you obviously are angry, even going so far as to assume people arent using things to the fullest, assuming people are just gaming. Not to mention that every part in your rig is on last generations OCN list of top part in its class. Your rig is a shining example of what would happen if you post on a specific board and ask what the best thing to buy would be. You can tell that you are trying to start moving into the next generation because you have the 6870 in there now, out of curiosity, what GPU did you have before.

Your anger betrays you teaching.gif

Wow, First thing is that "angry" is excessive expression, im not angry like screaming LMAO dont take that seriously
BTW im not that zestful with the 6870, i think its nice GPU and i love it.

And to feed your curiosity, my previous GPU was Sapphire x1650 Pro, in my profile i have another rig i name "Poor Little Prescott", its a Pentium 4 PC which i ended to use just in the last week, propably i will give it to my Aunt, she suffering from old AMD Athlon which cant handle notepad

I am going 1366 in the next couple of days for definate! If SB was compatible with my current setup, I would be writing a diferent story, but sadly it isn't.
I dont wish to pay out for a new cpu and motherboard for just a sidegrade.
