Whats going on. I currently am fixing an xbox for a friend which i do often and this time i have stumbled across something I have no idea how to fix. I got to the baking step of the fix and when i turn the xbox on the power brick continues to be orange and when i plug in the fans they turn on then off really fast. It will not overheat. Could anyone tell me how I can complete this fix so I can give my friend back a fixed xbox like he expects? thank you

What sort of xbox are we talking about? Launch ? Slim? Jasper? More info is needed.

DVD drive plugged in ? (just make sure it cant get on wireless or else no dvd + internet = xblive ban)

I personally turned it on and used a heat gun to oversaturate the heatsink quickly and it went dual red lights in seconds... worked like a champ.. thing hasnt missed a beat in 3 months since.

Yea the dvd drive's plugged in and im not to sure how to do the Heat gun thing. Also I believe this xbox is a opus or falcon not sure which as it is dated 10-27-2007 making it second Gen

Opus units were never released to the public, ever. They only ever see the light of day as repaired/refurb*edit* units, so unless it's already been repaired by MS it wont be a opus.

Alright so Its a falcon. I looked up a picture on google and it said opus/falcon.

Easy way to tell, check out the power supply, is it a 175W unit or 203W?

175 w

What about the back of the unit, it should be 175W as well, in which case you have a Falcon.

'tis a Falcon. (I know..I had one from a similar date in '07)

I wrapped the entire mobo (save gpu and cpu) in layers of aluminum foil and baked @ approx. 325 for 24 mins. Came out crispy and delicious...

...just kidding about the crispy and delicious part, but it worked...7 months strong until E74, then I gave up and sold it.
