1 GTX 580 or 2 6950 ... For the 500 price range. - Page 2

Im goin to get the one 580 and another one later. the 5850's are just as good if not better than the 6950's. I think ATI dropped an egg. The only ATI id get is a HD5970. And for that price u def get the GTX 580 IMO.
5970 is not as appealing as it once was.

in Shoot's out crazy number's in terms of FPS.

but it's High price and sub-par tesselation performance make's other turn to card's at cheaper price point that in tesselated event's turn out higher performance then the 5970/
which has been a problem since day 1. nothing but problems from the dual GPU behemoth

I wouldn't go either option because..

Crossfire drivers suck and 580 is overpriced.

imo go for a single 570 or a single 6970.

Hmmmm i have a 5850 PCS+ card on another computer... that would be even less expensive... getting a second 5850 ... but, it's not that much better than my gtx295

Well... i'm just thinking that, gtx580 has a very high price for a single gpu.
Usually, dual gpu's are more future proof.

Example, i had a GTX285 and then upgraded for a 295. It will be 2 years in February. That's what i'm searching in this upgrade, something that will have a good life span without having to be "worried" on getting a second card.

I want to change due to the titles that will use dx11 and that i really want to get... 2011 is going to be a very nice year for pc games i think

I would love to see something from nvidia just like gtx 595 r something, but, no news about that so i just need to play with the cards we have...

I wouldnt go as far to say as CrossfireX Driver's suck. imo it's half luck, and half how you know to use multi ATI Gpu's.

GTX 580 is overpriced if you look at it in term's of what u can get in multi gpu combo's that can out perform it.

my 6870's at 480$ out perferom a singel GTX 580

but in all honesty what look's more appealing?

you are right for getting a single gpu.

in this case. get a GTX 580. and overclock like hell.

Hmmm...

well, a basic question is... 1920x1200 ... maybe the xfire will be a little to much for this resolution no?

I'm so used to the GTX295 that i've been completely out of the graphic market
post #19 of 45
Yes. 1GB Of GDDR5 will perform just fine at this resolution.

if a 896MB GT200B did this fine. then so can 1GB. plain and simple yes.

im 100% confident my 6870's can do right at this res. and if your talking about 69XX and GTX 5XX.

then have no doubt!

Well then go with 2X570's or wait for 560's. If 560's are nething like 460's were they should be awesome for the price.
