Graphics Card Fails to Be Detected - Page 3

Since it shows that SLI is enabled, I would suggest running actual games to see if there is any tangible difference. 3DMark 11 has been hit or miss for a good number of people, including myself. I have only been able to complete the benchmark once successfully - all other times it fails somewhere along the lines. Games, on the other hand, have shown a remarkable difference with a second card installed.

OKAY, I was watching video's on youtube and all of a sudden my computer froze up.....

I hit the restart on my machine. Once I logged in, the welcome screen went all pixelated and all different colors, the computer restarted and did that like twice...

Next I decided to play black ops, the game looks all weird, it has a red hue to the game.... what do you think is going on?

Is one of the cards dieing?

I have had this system for only a few months and one of the cards is already on its way out?

ok this is weird because the same exact thing happened to me today.

I tried out those new 236.14 drivers yesterday and had some weird things happen to I did a driver sweep and went back to 260.99 but today I went to play BFBC2 vietnam and I hung up on a loading screen like 3 times causing me to have to hit the restart button.

After restarting that last time only 1 gpu was recognized, I was like oh no, maybe a video card died. So I swapped them and put the bottom one in the top slot. The bottom one wasn't even warm and the the top one was, like oh man dead, so anyway it worked in the top spot???? ***??? So I cleared the cmos and booted up stock (1st thing to try) and same thing.

So thinking that my mobo may be shot, I decide to take it apart, re-seat my cpu cooler and build it on the desk. I do that and everything seems to work fine??? but then I enable SLI (which I never disabled so that was weird) and my image quality is terrible on text, could tell immediately. So I reinstall the driver and enablle/disable/enable SLI and bam back to good.

I rebuilt my pc back into my case, re-did my OC and have played all my games and done a few benchmarks with no problem.

Not sure wth happened but I did get some weird action after installing that 263.14 driver.

after you saying that, make sure your SLI bridge is on all they way. If it is, do a clean reinstall of your drivers.

Agreed.

If possible, see if you have another SLI bridge to try out as well.

Well I uninstalled the 260.99 drivers and installed the 260.89 drivers and did a few restarts. The SLi is detected and the games have no more red hue... I'm not sure what is going on, but I'm sure that once I live the computer off for a day or two the SLi configuration will fail to be detected once again.....

That is definitely weird. At this point, I would test out each card individually by running 40-50 passes of Crysis benchmark and/or Metro 2033 benchmark looped. You can also opt to try Furmark/Kombuster/OC Scanner/OCCT as well, as those may help you find out more quickly which card may have problems.

I don't know if you have any overclock going on with your CPU, but I would suggest reverting back to stock for your GPU stability testing. As a matter of fact, if you do have a CPU overclock, trying running it at stock for a few days just to see if that may be the issue as well.

How do I get the crysis benchmark?

Do I have to pay for the crysis game to be able to have access to that (like the 2033 benchmark you only have access to if you purchased through steam)?

What about any of the other benchmarks? I'm looking for free please

To use the Crysis benchmark, you would have to own a copy of the game.

Do you own any other games that have an internal benchmark? While they may not have the versatility of the Cyrsis or Metro 2033 benchmarks (where you can configure the video settings and loop it) it's better than nothing. Other options include the free versions of the older 3DMark's and the ones I mentioned above: OCCT, OC Scanner, Furmark, MSI Kombuster.

Worse comes to worse, just play some games for a few hours straight with each individual card and see if any problems arise.
