750w or 850w for my setup - Page 4

That was ~1000w at the wall.

I know I was surprised it held up myself.

Right...

My hx750 handled
2 x 4ghz i7
2 x 480
1 x 470

Some how I doubt this...
That is the whole rig. Assuming their power supply was 85 percent efficient and those numbers are at the wall, that is only 720 W running Furmark. Typically power consumption is going to be a lot lower running games.

Power consumption is much lower running games. Furmark has unrealistic power consumption compared to most people's uses.

As for my rig, kill-a-watt shows 420-430w under Furmark right now.
Your rig is really only pulling 360 W if your PSU is 85 percent efficient. Your video card is overclocked too. Most review site only test power consumption at stock, so their numbers are going to be lower.

750W will do but with a 850w you will not have to worry about the PSU and run any 2 cards fine for the future. If fo some reason you want to run 2 x GTX 480 etc you will need 850W.

I love how most of you guys don't realize that computer parts really don't use that much power. The first chart that was linked is pretty much spot on.

^The HX750 are actually Gold PSUs which corsairs downgraded themselves to silver.

NO, IT IS NOT EVEN NEAR SPOT ON.

Understand? Unless it's "full load @ 1024x768 on CS 1.6" than it isn't accurate.

I LOVE how you keep insisting that the fail of a chart that was posted is even near accurate.

PSU is about 81% efficient so it's about about 340w.

I fee like I'm being talked to as if I don't anything about PSU's or power consumption. Kinda annoying.

Yes, the HX750's are excellent. I just did not know what PSU that Anand used.

Don't take things so personally. That was not my intent.

Total rig, got it, that makes a lot more sense then.

My numbers were while folding, which is worse than futuremark.

Suddenly, I have this new-found love for my own HX750.
