If you can hold out a week or two take a look at sandy bridge.
If you can hold out a couple months take a look at bulldozer.

At this point in the game it'd be worth considering newer platforms than ones that are already at EOL.
Waiting on X399

You'll be able to get an i7 2600k and appropriate motherboard for the same price you'd pay for a 950 with a motherboard, and the 2600k is a nice improvement over the 950. So, just wait a few weeks for the 2600k to officially release. I can almost promise you that a 2600k will overclock higher than the 950 as well.

Sandy Bridge is the 2nd generation of i5s and i7s.

you can get i7 2600k and then to save some $$ you can just keep your current motherboard and buy a socket adapter from your current socket to the new sandy bridge socket so you don't also need a new motherboard, or you can just get i7 9xx right now and get an adapter for that too
