What i7 should i get? - Page 2

No. 1155 for the early chips, then 1356 for their higher end chips, then 2011 for their server chips.

1155 is replacing 1156, and 1356 is replacing 1366.

... Socket adapters are for coolers, not CPUs themselves. At least not that I know of; I've never seen a socket adapter for a CPU.

Edit: After checking it out, I do see that they had an adapter to allow installing socket 478 into socket 775 motherboards, though I don't see why one would buy a 775 motherboard to put a 478 CPU into it.

Ummm...no socket adapter for Sandy Bridge. It is Socket 1155, not to be confused with Socket 1156 i7, but there is no socket adapter. You have to get a new motherboard.

And the cooler config for 1156 and 1155 is the same so no adapter needed.

Also, about 1356 and 2011...see this thread
