He is running Phase Change units on both CPUs. Look at his build log thread, all will become clear.

Remember; this thread is about his PSU choice, don't get too off topic

Have you given any thought to the EVGA 1200w power supply?
Afterall, it is very suitable for the SR-2...

It is the same as the Antec TPQ-1200 OC edition.

The HCP1200 is better

That will keep the temps down, but it doesn't make the chip magically resistant to the vcore. It will still degrade and die. Voltage will kill chips, irrespective of temps.

Also, I said "not to derail the thread." So.. I think it's clear I was remembering just fine. I think asking him about this specific aspect of his build was perfectly fine, as his question had been answered some time ago.

I wouldnt trust less than HCP 1200 or the Strider 1500, and even then I'd be very worried. I would also definitely go with PCsarge's idea, and have it's own 30A breaker.

That would also require rewiring the house, as a 30A breaker on 14ga wire is against code in most states. For a 30A breaker we're talking 8-10ga, solid copper wire.

I see! Was not aware of that. Havent paid much attention to PSU's after i bought my HX 1000w.

In all seriousness though, i hope you find manage to find psu(s) suitable for your needs. The computer you've built is very powerful

It might very well require it, but apparently he can afford it. I wouldn't trust that much hardware on anything less personally.

Why worry about a few thousand in electrician bills, when you're spending 10k on a computer?

Just look for the biggest and most highly priced PSU and you'll be ok!!

by the way, I guess you already have your optimus maximus keyboard to match yor rig, its a must for a rig like yours...
