What? Everywhere I've looked the Galaxy Tab is at least $100 more.

Its a 7" device with a regular LCD screen competing against a 9.7", higher res, IPS screen. It should be at least $100 less, not $100 more.

The Archos 101 has the same resolution, same hardware, same multitouch capacitive screen, only larger, and it only costs $300. Why then is the Galaxy Tab $600?

I don't see the use of this when they've already released 4in phones that can do the same thing. Screw a player, I want to see the next 4.5in SAMOLED smart phone Samsung is cooking up.

I'm talking 16Gb 3G vs 16Gb 3G. The tab is actually $30 less.

Galaxy Tab at $600
iPad at $630

You can't compare two different product levels when looking at pricing strategies. If Samsung came out with a Wifi Tab, you could compare that price to the Wifi iPad. Not saying the consumr won't compare the 3G tab to the Wifi iPad, but when samsung is pricing their 3G Tablet, they will most likely look at the competitions 3G tablets

I'm not sure a smaller screen makes it that much cheaper (could be wrong). It's also IPS, like the iPad. Image comparison of the Tab's IPS vs the gtab's TN panel, sadly I couldn't find one against the iPad. However, you get the gist, that the tab is either an extraordinary TN panel, or an IPS panel. Really, I think the $30 cheaper is about fair for a device with a smaller screen (less real estate, higher pixel density, not sure the cost comparison) along with 2 cameras and a more powerful GPU, along with 2x the ram. It also has Gorilla glass (more expensive?).

Reasons the Archos 101 is cheaper?
  1. Lower Processor Speed (cheap battery couldn't handle 1Ghz, so the froyo update put it at I think it was 800Mhz)
  2. Horribly crappy TN panel
  3. Slower GPU
  4. No GPS
  5. No cellular radio
  6. By all reports, crap build quality. The tab is not
  7. Probably weaker cameras
  8. As bad as samsung support is, I expect the Archos support to be worse
  9. half the ram

There may be more. The archos does have a USB/HDMI port, but I imagine that those don't cost much either.
