Prime95 + multitasking question...

Thread Starter
Alright so I had Prime95 blend running for about 14 hours with no errors or anything. Did some internet browsing without any problems either. I decided to just watch some youtube/flash videos then I got a BSOD after a half hour.

Accidentally deleted the dump but this is the gist of it:

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
0x0000003b
win32k.sys+d0ae9

So the question I have is my OC considered unstable or was it just because I had flash videos running that could have caused the crash? I already did 25 runs of LinX/IBT max mem with no errors. I'm probably going to do a 24 hour prime95 blend run just to be safe, but I feel like my OC is stable...thoughts?

I would go a head and bump your vCore up one notch and test it again. Multitasking while running P95 is just adding more stress to the cpu so if anything it will help you find a more stable overclock vs not multitasking and running P95. Stress testing is also all about how stable you want your system. When I was testing for stability on my system I ran 25 runs of LinX and did a 16 hour P95 run, it passed and that was good enough for me. Some people tell you to do a 24 hour test but honestly, I'm not going to be stressing my CPU at 100% for 24 hours unless I'm folding (which gives me no troubles and is also a really good stress test for CPU's).

Thanks I'll give that a try. I just can't help but think that if I just left my rig alone and let Prime do it's thing, I probably wouldn't have gotten that BSOD.

Its possible, like I said its all about how stable you want it to be. It can't hurt to run the test one more time though.
