[Y] Six Gaming Disasters Of 2010

We’re in the 21st century; it’s 2010. Videogames have existed since the 1970s. They cost millions of pounds to make, and millions more to promote. Some of the entertainment industry’s biggest names are now associated, from J.K. Rowling to Daniel Craig, not to mention leading lights from within gaming such as Warren Spector. Call us naïve, but we think silly mistakes should be a thing of the past. But if they were, we’d have nothing to write about. Along the lines of as follows...

It's not that it's bad, but you think something developed for years that it would be quite polished. Though online mode via Forza 3 is far more forgiving than Gran Turismo 5, and I own both games.

Expectations can make and break a game.

When I play Forza 3, I get the feeling of "I hope they add more features next." Forza limited the amount of promises they will add on the sequel from Forza 2. They stayed a lot more humble and only concentrated on few key areas of the game.

When I play GT5, I get the feeling of "This game seems lacking in a lot of things." Too many promises and expectations were grown from GT4. Too many "next generation" messages and inputing so many words that we think each feature will be awesome 5 stars when all they stated is "online racing."

This.

I opened this thread expecting to see this at the top.

But as usual, console games only.

Couldn't be more true, and I have a perfect example.

I really like GT5, but only because I have never owned a GT game before. The last one I ever got to play was GT1... I had literally zero expectations. GT5 is the only console game I've bought since about 2003.

Because once again the people who write these articles dont know &%$@ about video games.

I mean really, they're criticising Epic Mickey for have a "gloomy atmosphere" and "tricky if not dasterdly puzzles" ... R-tard.

Funny how some of the games on that list appear in his top 15 games of 2010.

GT5 online is a free for all. The netcode is wonky at times and if you race in the public rooms its full of little kids and wreckers. Thankfully the main draw of the game doesn't involve online racing.
