890GPA-UD3H Power Supply Problem

Thread Starter
OK. so yesterday i went to frys to buy a new motherboard, I bought the 890GPA-UD3H from gigabyte, and I bought a Corsair 750TX from best buy. When I plug all of the necessary cables into the board, it doesnt power on, but when i unplug the 8 pin cable from the top of the motherboard, my fan all start spinning.

But when I plug in the power supply to a different setup, everything works fine.

Is the problem the connector on my motherboard, or does it not accept my power supply?

Well, you can run the board and POST with only one of the 4 pin ATX power cables connected to the board if running onboard video in most cases. However, EPS 12V requires both connectors to the board if using an addin video card. Most board should work fine with any number of PSUs provided they have the necessary connectors. Make sure that the pins on your 8pin are not reversed and that they are in the appropriate pins. Line them up with the notched and square shaped pinheaders on the EPS connector on the mobo. This is a common error. If this doesnt work, you may have a faulty PSU. Recommend testing another PSU at this point if all else fails and see if you can get POST. If it POSTS with a different setup, then likely - as your post suggests - your would have a faulty PSU. Get a PSU tester or use a multimeter to test the independent outputs on your EPS 12V from your PSU. If you have a voltage variance greater than .8V on any given line, you may have a bad PSU. They can be repaired, but it is usually easier to just buy a new one. However, it appears that you may have a bad mobo, suggest you heed dixon and return it.

He has test the PSU with another mobo and it works. The only thing that is left is the mobo is bad.
