LOL

You know what gave it away? In GPUz the shader count is cut in half when a driver is not present or installed. With the stock BIOS it said that my shader count was 704, or with the driver 1408. When I flashed and got back to Windows and it was sitting at a crap resolution I looked again and this time GPUz said 768. I then knew that installing the driver would work.

maybe windows has an issue detecting it as a spoofed 6970 after reboot and the only way it can see it is by forced driver install. anyways gonna try the xfx bios. brb

Hey guys I'm new here so please don't flame if I'm a bit ignorant.

I've just recently purchased two 6950 cf in the new alienware aurora r3. I've gone through 18 pages of this thread and I am still confused about flashing TWO 6950s in crossfire. How would I go about doing that? (I've already read through tech's flash guide).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

do card one at a time.
this will eliminate confusion with scripts or command prompt number confusion.
1. uninstall all ati drivers from your machine too.
2. physically remove one card from the motherboard. this should be the card in the second pci-e slot.
3. make sure both card bios switch is in the "1" position.
this switch is found by the crossfire bridge connector on the card.
4. then run the one click flashing method found here.
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...ing_Tools.html
5. double click the batch file named "flash to 6970" and follow on screen prompts.
and when it asks to reboot just shutdown your machine and switch cards physically again.
6. double check the second card bios switch is in the "1" position.
7. boot into windows and run the same batch file script named "flash to 6970".
8. follow onscreen prompts again and when it asks to reboot just shutdown the computer instead.
9. install both cards physically to your motherboard and attach the crossfire bridge to both of the cards crossfire connectors.
10. boot into windows then install 10.12a hotfix drivers found here.
http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...12ahotfix.aspx
11. when it asks if you want to reboot click cancel.
12. install opencl graphics accerlation driver found here.
https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206...in7_64_ocl.exe
13. reboot one last time back into windows and open gpuz and verify your shader count change as well as clock timings. you can get gpuz here.
http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads...-Z_v0.5.0.html
14. go to catalyst control center and enable crossfire.
15. run any benchmarking software for at least 30 minutes to stability test. if not crashes your good to go and done.

Sorry for being an idiot but what is the one click flashing method? Is that the method documented by tech at the first page?

Also, is there no way of flashing both without physically removing one of them? (there's a reason why I ended up buying a prebuilt. I have no experience with putting together/removing hardware).

Man if there was somebody located in Toronto, Ontario who is familiar I would pay them to help me flash my cards

dude read the instructions i just laid out and just follow it.
it doesn't get any simpler then that. no commands to type and no risk of screwing up a card.
there is a way as posted on tpu but given how your asking so many questions already i don't think you should attempt that way with 300 dollar cards at risk. just follow what i have typed and download what is listed and click what is said and you will be fine.

if you still don't understand the instructions read them over again.
if you still don't understand and are confused do not attempt this at all.

really don't. it sounds like you are unsure of doing this and you shouldn't risk bricking your 300 dollar pair of cards.
