The 6950 to 6970 unlock thread - Page 25

I'm perfectly content with 950/1450 and no voltage modding. Plus for a quick test, 6970 bios lets you know right away whether its stable or not w/o having to do AB.

Anyone unlock one with a red pcb? Like here:

http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?...ess-Video-Card

Do you think it would unlock because the Sapphire 6970 also has a red PCB like:

The color of the pcb isn't a determining factor in unlocks. The card needs to be a revision 1 with the bios switch. As long as it has a switch yer good to go.

what is the success rate for 6950 2 gb unlock?

what about the success rate for the 1 gb version?

and how much performance do you increase by unlocking?

Not to be rude, but all these questions could easily be answered by using the search.

With that said...

Success rate is very high. Almost all have been able to unlock.

The 1Gb does NOT unlock.

Increase with full bios flash, or shader unlock and OC is roughly 12%

I flashed my Asus 6950 with the Asus 6970 bios and OC'd the core to 940mhz. I have a fan profile set up so my load temps don't go over about 63C and I have been able to play hours on end of GTA IV and Starcraft 2. I have been able to loop Heaven 2.5 benchmark for as long as I want and I just ran the 2 Lost Planet 2 benchmarks with ease.

Now here is my problem. I cannot play The Settlers 7 without a GSOD either almost right away or a bit into the game (10-20 minutes) my computer loses video, locks up and the sound freezes and sometimes it stays black and sometimes it goes to a GSOD.

Should I blame this on the game and/or drivers or think this is a problem with my card?

Hi guys im new to these forums, im really interested in getting one of these cards, asap.

I've been looking at this one

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/254950

Its fan looks a bit better than the stock fan, but does that mean its not a reference card?
Also is there a particular brand that people seem to recommend?

There are comments of people that have bought the card, but I would feel more comfortable purchasing this if i got more experienced people from this forum to respond.

Im quite sure its a revision 1 aswel, since it has a switch (don't know if there's any other factors to consider)

Has anyone on this forum had a successful flash with this specific card?

Thanks

Hard to know because there is only one angle shot of it, if it has the bios switch then yes it can be unlocked. I would email the seller and ask if it is a revision with the bios switch.

Also back to my problem it seems it was my core and not my memory...

Backed down to 920 and 1375 on the memory is just fine. Weird that the only game that crashed me was Settlers 7 while what I would think would be much more demanding games and benchmarks were just fine.

I remember with my 5870 that the GSOD from was from memory errors, but it seems that you can GSOD on these 6xxx series from core problems.

AND A third thing. I read somewhere that if you flash the 6970 bios to the 6950 the HDMI and display ports won't work. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Stick with a proper reference design if you want to unlock, otherwise go for the fancy cooler.

Part 1, it just means the game is coded oddly, and not that it is more demanding.

Part 2, that's completely bogus that hdmi and dp ports are disabled w/ 6970. Completely BOGUS.

Well I hope that part 2 is correct as I don't have any HDMI or display port and part 1... I don't know what the hell is going on there, but I got on the 11.4 preview drivers and even with 20mhz less on the core I get better a bench score in Heaven 2.5, so I am ok with the clocks for now... I might want to OC this memory though. Should I?
