New acquistion - Page 2

...I am a little worried, however, that my PSU may not be able to handle it. I'm going to leave the 9800 as the "main" GPU so that my wife and I can play sims, but now with the added 450 I don't lose as much folding time.

I may try some benchies on the 450 in the x1 slot to see, though, which to run....and I'll run a spare monitor on it, LOL

...there's also the "issue" of how I "acquired" it, LOL

In the future, I may switch them around. I just wanted to see how this works. (I was the kind of guy that, over time, bought 4 different kinds of intakes for my car(s) just to see which worked best)

Is that PSU a 500W?

It'll be plenty of juice, the 450 is pretty frugal, and the 9800 isn't too bad. You should have plenty of headroom, if indeed it is a 500W PSU

Same concept...
As for that, it seems to be getting a lot of 2E codes, so perhaps I'll have better luck with my route.

Your psu will be fine btw. A GTS 450 has a TDP of 105W.

...just got a delivery from UPS at the office...WAHOO!!!!! Just out of curiosity, should I let Windows try to recognize and install drivers, use the driver disk, or go straight to NVIDIA and get the latest drivers.

Remember, this will be going directly into a x1 slot, so I'm not even sure the computer will recognize it, I may have to get goofy with the install.

Guess I'll be finishing up my last GPU2 WU and starting over with a bunch of clients

^^

It should work in a x1 slot, as long as your mobo doesn't do anything funky when you've got other slots filled

Not to my knowledge. I've got 3 450's on them folding away happily 24/7
