6600gt on black ops - Page 3

Well if it helps for basis, with all settings on low or off, I can get Team Fortress 2 almost playable (30ish fps) on this setup:

P4 @ 3.2Ghz stock
6800GT w/ 256mb

I think you specs might be stretching things a bit...

no, it will not play at all on your system, the gpu is to slow and the cpu is way to slow. on my sig rig i use 65% of my cpu and 86% of my gpu, i have everything max except for AA and AF and get 40-80fps. the game seems heavily dependent on cpu. but still requires a decent gpu.

I say, the op should do it anyways and tell us the results because i'm interested to find out how it will run..

The source engine is really good at working on old/slow computers so that's a factor too.

Wow guys didn't expect the thread to boom this big!

Well i installed black op's and tried it. The game won't run because my 6600gt doesn't have the correct shader modules and the game shut's down right off the start. If i had a 7xxx series card that would work.

So far i've just been playing SC2 on the rig as my main rig should be finished tomorrow then ill come after some zombies on black ops!

Thanks for all the input everyone. To the guy who said he can only play tf2 with a p4 at 3.2 and a 6800gt at 30fps that is terrible man. I play tf2 at 60fps 1280x768 which is my native res. Im more about bumping res then texture quality i could care less about that.

That's odd. The Geforce 6 series actually prided itself on having full DirectX 9.0c support when the competing X800 series didn't.
