Nvidia gtx460 786mb Vs 5850 1gb

Thread Starter
Im thinking go with the gtx 460, its a bit cheaper and it on par with the 5850,

plus good mate of mine explained that the benchmarks may not be as high but it will give better features overall (clearer gaming images will slight more realistic)

what are your options

Uhh...you're starting a flame war here by saying that nvidia gives "clearer gaming images"..

On another note, 5850 1 GB benches between a 460 1GB and a 470, so it's significantly better than a 460 768MB.

5850 is faster, don't know much about that card but i know 460's overclocks like a beast making it near a gtx 470 but i don't know how the 5850 overclocks
post #4 of 12
I now have both and would not say the nvidia has any visual advantage that I have seen. I will say the GTX460 768 has impressed me so far, I have only owned it for a few hours. The 5850 overclock just as well and has more power though.

I just bought the 460 for $99 and a 5850 is $180 (mine was $300 last year), at that price I would go with a 460. But that would be a really easy choice at those two price points. If the 5850 was $100 also I would get it...

To me it seems like you have already decided though.

Are you buying new or used?
Does your motherboard support sli or crossfire?

How much are you getting the cards for?

The HD 5850 overclocks just as good and starts off faster, so OC'ed the HD 5850 is still better.
