Need help in determining what timings/speeds are faster

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I've been OC'ing my RAM a lot lately, and I just got an 1800MHz OC with 8-8-8-24-30-1T@1.65v on a reference clock of 270. I was wondering if this is faster than 1600MHz@6-8-6-20-26-1T@1.65v on a ref clock of 300. Also, what combinations of timings and speeds should I be looking for in general?

You should test it with MaxxMem; AFAIK 1600 CAS6 should be about equal to 1800 CAS7.

Here for you :

1666 (6-8-6-20-24-1T) the ram freq written there is a glitch, ignore it , 1666 is correct

1800 (7-8-7-21-24-1T)

1800 CL7 beats 1666 CL6

Well, that says it all, thanks a bunch luches. I did notice, however, you are running the 1800MHz RAM at 1.9v. I don't think I'm gonna be running my RAM that high, so I guess I'll be living with the 1600MHz CL6 instead.

umm.. where did you read that ? I'm running 1792 (7-8-7-21-24-1T) @ 1.6V . I wouldn't dare run my precious ram at 1.9v ^^ .
what you read was the version of MaxxMEM not ram voltage XD

ADATA PC3-16000 XPG Gaming Series 9-9-9-24 @ 1.55 - 1.75V is the ram im using !

Are you sure the NB speeds are the same there? CPU speeds definitely are not (though they don't make a difference) so perhaps the NB multiplier is not. NB speeds make a huge difference.

First pic was from another user, who uisng asus 890GX pro . I think he had oced his NB to 3000, a tad more than my 2900 .

MaxxMEM 1.5 is full of bugs . It did read my ram and CPU freq wrong too .
That guy had oced to 4ghz and was running 1666 (6-8-6-20-1T) but his info was all over the place in MaxxMeM 1.5. 1.9 still works better for me !

Perhaps you should run the tests yourself, just to be sure AFAIK 1600 6-8-6 is more or less equal to 1800 7-9-7... less 7-8-7.

you got a point there... I'll try later and post the results !! would be proof for myself too ^^

I'm going to run some MaxxMem myself to see which is faster; I don't think I'll be running 1800MHz@270 ref clock, however, it's too unstable, so I'm currently trying for it at 225.
