My first build! And it's Sandy Bridge!

So. The dealio:
I've had my 5850 for quite some time time now and everything else in my rig is kinda crap compared to it.

It's time for some rebuilding!

Parts needed:
  • Intel i7 2600K 320$
  • New Mobo
  • New RAM (2x2GB) 40-70$
  • New PSU (600-700 Watt)
  • New CPU cooling ofc
  • Thermal paste

The processor should preferably be an i7 2600k (or whatever it's called). I hear they can OC easily without weird Intel restrictions.
I am relatively new to this and I'm gonna need help along the way.

So, what to buy?

Current budget:

~400$ but I'll get more money later on.

+150$ in January
+300-400$

Mobo - go for ASUS or Gigabyte. I'd recommend the UD7 since it looks sexy as f***
RAM - SB will be dual channel so get 4 or 8. 4 is more than enough if you're gaming (obv)
PSU - Go for corsair ax750 or silverstone.

As for your CPU COOLING - what's your budget?

I have a pretty flexible budget but everything is about 10% more expensive since I live in Sweden.
I also don't want too much of an OC since I'm a bit of a newb at OCing and I don't want to risk stuff happening.
Edit: And I thought SB would be triple channel...

*checks*

If you're OCing - i'd go cheap for an Corsair A50. If you can spend about $60 USD go for a prolimatech armageddon, if you have the space for that. Or a thermaltake frio. It's about $55 currently. Great cooler.

Here's the frio: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...maltake%20frio

And here's the review: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/coo...ooler-review/1

Cheers

Edit: socket lga 1356. Not 1155, which is SB.

According to that wikichartthing I posted and the article itself, SB will have pretty high stock frequencies and with turbo-boost tech enabled they'll go as high as 3.8 GHz.
I don't think I need to OC at first. And I'll wait 'til later.

Keep in mind, that 3.8 turbo-boost is only when the system needs it. It's not going to be 24/7.

What RAM should I get and is there any real reason to have more than 4 gigs? I am actually running W7 Home Premium 64bit on only 3GB surprisingly successfully.

Go for corsair. Best quality. But I'd recommend G.Skill, cheaper but not as pretty as corsair's. Then again, how many times are you actually going to be looking at the darn thing?
