Id'e say 50/50 tbh. i dont think anyone can give u hard number's on you chances

Even if u can manage to unlock it. they wont clock good, if at all.

you really only pay for the spec's on the box. anything else is just a bonus.

the 2 core's were locked either cause they were defective in the Binning process. or they simply deactivated them to improve manufacturing yield's ( meaning to intentionally deactivate core's to keep up with supply and demand of Dual core's. and to also have another product on the market. Dual's and quad core's of the same family.

as a reference i have a Phenom II X3 720. it unlock's to a quad. but it WILL NOT overclock at all as it's stabil.... well im not going to lie. it has no stability running out side of factory clock's..

This may or may not be a factor that can/will affect you. even if it unlock's. stability and overclocking are 2 thing's that can make or break a unlocked Phenom II

Sorry if i got a Lil carried away. none the less. From: - yoko littner.

it is possible you can. it is also possible that u cannot.

as to how far the clock's can go? i cant say. 50mhzs? 700MHZ?

Each chip is different.

i nor anyone can say with certainty if/how much it can be pushed if at all..

both are possible.

thats not true. u CAN UNLOCK and OVERCLOCK. It just depends on your luck. I find that most 555s clock fairly well regardless of unlockability. Out of the 5 555s i've only had 2 that could unlock to quads and oc to 4ghz. 2 more unlocked to tricore and 1 more couldn't unlock at all however they could all clock at 4ghz.

mines used to clock 4.1ghz stable but has since then become unstable. now i'm running 4ghz.

"not true"

What you said is basically what i said. in fact what you said simply reinforced what i said.

"u can unlock and overclock" - this is not a given. reguardless of the likely hood.

most of the time they will lock core for a bad FPU and that wont effect overclocking or gaming at all.
it will effect things like photoshop and things of the sort.
stability test like prime95 and and IBT will not detect a bad FPU either.
the only program ive seen that will is maxxmem.
