x07f bsod on new build

Thread Starter
I just built a new system
i7-870 with 8gb ram
gigabyte mobo

I'll provide more details if needed, but think i did do a proper job on compatibility

running Windows 7 pro 64-bit; 32-bit office 2010 and various other 32-bit programs.

on my home network, the other pcs are windows xp (32-bit).

The bsods are completely random. Sometimes they happen, sometimes they don't. The only thing I've noticed that is consistent is that it happens (sometimes) when my one of my pcs accesses its drives (and hence the network since My computer does scan the network, i believe). But it doesn't always happen! It's not just My computer - would happen on shortcut to windows 7 pc - so i stopped using the shortcuts. But sometimes, just opening My computer on the windows xp will cause a bsod on the windows 7.

I cannot think of any other details to provide. It is difficult to troubleshoot since it's not definite. And it is difficult to point the finger at one specific xp system since I don't user the others as often and the issue is very random.

Please let me know if i need to provide anymore information.

thanks.

ok, i guess it's a double fault error - but that doesn't really mean anything to me
what's frustrating is it's not consistent.. so how can it be hardware???

I don't understand what "stock settings" are. I'm not overclocking anything, if that's what you mean...

*sigh* no one seems to. I've run memtest - no errors found. i've reseated my ram.. still waiting to see if that was the problem. That's the biggest problem - wasn't regular issue. At least windows 7 seems to handle crashes pretty good... I guess I'm also finding out if an SSD handles them better too *lol*

thanks for reading my q and posting tho - nice to know someone checked it out!

well, I think I finally figured it out. And in case anyone ever runs into a similar issue, here's what i did - uninstalled ZoneAlarm (free). I found someone with an issue that seemed much like mine - my system would bsod when I tried accessing its drives over the network. But the issue was sporadic. He noticed in his logs that right before the crash, ZA was trying to handle 2 connections.
Anyway, I uninstalled ZA (I had tried just disabling it once, but that didn't work) and have been bsod free for almost a week.
