Need help with my rig having probs to read HD and running

here i GO

ok my main pc went down its in my sig.

The problem I'm having is that it will not run stable at all.
The First prob is that 90% of the time my mobo wont read the Hd
when i do get it to read it load up normally but say few minutes after full load it freezes or runs very slow.

The first thing i though it was prob the HD so i picked up a new one
plugged it in and ran bios from there i had no prob.So i go install Os W7 pro .
I notice from the start that its taking along time to load up( about 15 min)
when it get to the installing screen My Hd does not show up and windows says install driver(I have never seen this before).

2nd thing i tried was updating Bios. When i finished doing this the comp started up fine but few minutes into it the Pc froze and we where back to same problem.

I'm really stumped about the problem, I don't have extra mobo to test if that's the prob.

on the HD I tried every sata port and always got the same prob.
i tested everything with 1 gig ram still same effect.

HELP ME PLZ biggrin.gif

p.s I also tested it with a different HD with the same results.

First thing I'd check is all your BIOS settings. If BIOS supports SATA AHCI, I recommend running your HDDs in that mode. Also, is the CPU overclocked at all? Does BIOS have the latest version?

as said i did update bios.

I have no where in bios talking about AHCI, I also don't know what it is.

and the other hd i test was a 1 year old+ hd.

p.s I noticed that when i did a bios update u could dl those ahci drivers.
I did not want to touch them because i have no clue what Ahci means

extra information: I test the Hd on a diffrent rig im dling cpu-z right now to give the specs

AHCI is a mode that your SATA ports run in. Yours are most likely running under IDE mode. I am not sure that's the main problem though, seeing as reinstalling Windows does nothing...

Tried resetting the CMOS?

In that case, you have no AHCI support most likely. Did a CMOS reset on it?

what does Cmos mean?

CMOS is the settings in your BIOS. Easy way to do it is take out the battery on the motherboard for a minute and let it sit there with power unplugged.
