Dell 2407WFP Input lag? Is time to upgrade...

Thread Starter
I've been gaming with this monitor for years and a couple rigs. Is it time to upgrade or am I getting old?

2407WFP (this is not the HC version) http://reviews.cnet.com/Dell_UltraSharp ... 99303.html

It's still pretty bright and colors are good.

would my rig plus this monitor cause input lag... Is the below considered input lag?

screen jitters and hangs sometimes ... I also notice my mouse button reacts slowly sometimes on fire in Black Ops. I've tweaked maxsfps to 250+ fps or sometimes I run with 150 max fps with no flucuations.

In BBC2 if feel like I'm seeing foes shooting hitting them but dying

I typically will play on servers where I ping at 25-40. and have 15/3 comcast internet

understanding my monitor, its age and my rig ... is this input lag? Or am I just getting old?

___

Questions on an upgrade... based on my current monitor and its specs... keeping in mind I mostly play FPS and a couple MMOs... no dvd and some video/hulu...

Price isn't a problem...

Looking for 24"-27" ...maybe 30"

1> Are the 120hz Dell or ASUS monitors worth it for just 2d gaming (I'm ATI atm)

2> Is a 2560x1200 or 2560x1440 going to blow my mind? or would a 27" with a fast ms fit the bill

Thoughts on the below considering rig, lag, ms etc etc

If you want fast paced gaming go for a 120hz monitor with low input lag.
Like my 23" LG W2363D, I first considered buying like a 27-30" monitor but went with the gaming monitor instead, I don't regret it at all.

Its worth getting it for 2D gaming, I haven't even used my 3D yet, I just wanted my 120hz + low input lag.
The only thing that is usually bad with these TN panel high performers is that the image quality is not that good.
If you want high picture quality a "slow" IPS panel is the way to go, but if you are willing to sacrifice image quality for fast gameplay do it

Not completely sure how that Asus 23" is, but read reviews around so you can find the best fitting monitor for your needs!
