Questionable OC

Thread Starter
Well, this is my first real overclock of about 1 Ghz. From the stock 2.67 to 3.7. Yesterday, I ran Prime95 to check for stability, and I keep getting an error on the 3rd core. Temps are still 95-101*F between the 4 cores at load, (For whatever reason, "CPU" is reading at 124ish... Image is attached) so I'm beginning to wonder, could I go further? I just used the auto-tuning utility that came with my Asus mobo.

Specs are listed below.

Always OC with the BIOS. Hope those temps aren't real... If not... You're going to burn up your chip...

He is talking Fahrenheit not Celsius. He is getting 35-38C Celsius which is more than fine.

i5 isn't a great overclocker, so you are probably fine at 3.7GHz. I'm sure with some time you could get it to at least 4.0GHz, not sure about stability though.

EDIT: By the way, make sure you have it set to apply settings on startup and don't use real time, because it results in system instability which might lead to prime95 hating you.

Phew... Made me stop my Prime95 test just in case...

By the way, idle temps are roughly 10-15 Celsius.

Yeah I was about to tell him to shut off his computer and spray it with a fire extinguisher.
