6gb ram w/ stock cpu, or 4gb ram w/ oc'ed cpu

Thread Starter
I just ordered a 4gb kit of ram from a fellow ocn'er and I'm wondering if my system would benefit more from (trying) to overclock my cpu higher and use just the 4gb of ram i'm getting since the sticks are identical, or keep 2 of my better sticks of ram in the system and add the 4gb for 6gb total but keep stock speeds on cpu. Reason I don't just try to OC w/ the 6gb is coz i'm pretty sure the ram I currently have doesn't play nice because i have 3 1gb sticks in single channel and all 3 sticks are from different manufacturers. And have never been able to get a stable OC.

Although many use 6gb, it still is not necessary. I would go with 4GB and then overclock.

You would probably benefit more from a higher CPU speed and 4gb unless your using programs and such that takes up lots of memory
