Gigabyte X58A-UD5: 22 multiplier "not working" ?

Thread Starter
Hello to all.
Yesterday i was trying some new multipliers for 4.4Ghz but, when i choose x22 on bios, i looked at post messages when restarting and it kept the multiplier at x21. I though i'd forgot saving it, but when i checked the bios, the x22 was selected.

Is there any reason why, choosing higher multipliers than x21 does not work? Or is there a catch?

You need to enable Turbo Boost in order to apply the x22. This means that you actually need to ''do'' something in your pc, other than Internet browsing ^^, to get that x22.

Well Turbo Boost will only give you that 1 extra digit to your multiplier only when you need it (e.g. while gaming, encoding etc.).By the way I think you need to enable Speedstep too in order to get Turbo Boost enabled but i haven't bothered with that to be sure.

Speedstep doesn't exist on 1366 boards or CPU's.

So stop trying to poke snide little comments at people before you know what you're talking about.

If you disable Turbo mode you can manually set x22 I believe, be sure you are using the latest BIOS.

If that doesn't work then you set 21 and enable Turbo, but I know you used to be able to use the turbo multi with turbo disabled, maybe they changed it?

x22 isn't a good mutli choice anyway, even multi's are unstable and often need much more volts than the odd multi's, on a large majority of CPU's

First of all I just tried to help the guy and I thought I was clear when stating that I'm not sure. Secondly what does EIST stand for, cause I thought it is "Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology".

Yes my Pc I7 has speedstep. PLease if your trying to bash some one talk about something u know. not just trying to be an jackass on holidays,
yes you need a load on cpu to make the cpu jump the extar 1 , Like said befor tho. do 21X200 or 191 or what your @ but 22 makes system unstable. i tried a few volts. im not going to go .1 volts over to see if stable @ same speed. i7 sweet spots seem like 4 ghz. over that u need more volts 1.35 + for 4.2 only if you got a golden chip u can get lower. Good thing to test systeam stablity is with a load. i like linx cpu stress. hits harder then orthos or prime95. and is ez to run, just watch temps , Im @ 4.0 now @ 1.275 volts ht on .
