1090t worth it? - Page 2

Why does your sig rig say "X4 1055T"

Definitely go for the X6 1090T.

The TA890FXE hits an FSB wall at around 280-300, meaning that once you are overclocking and hit around 280, your system would hit a wall.

Basically, it's going to be hard getting to 4GHz and beyond on this board with a 1055T. It's definitely possible, but it's hard getting past that FSB hole.

Also, do note that G-Skills do not play very well with this board. G-Skill Ripjaws and Eco's normally have PSC IC's inside them, and this board absolutely hates PSC IC's.

Mushkin Redlines, Corsair Doms, or any kit with Hypers would work rather well with this board.

Take nothing away from this board. For the price, it is the best of the best, and I would recommend it at any time, anywhere. It's just a bit picky, that's all.

From what I've seen, the 95W variants of the 1055T don't exactly OC better then the normal 125W 1055Ts.

Thank you for your response. Can any one tell me more about this FSB wall?

1090t - you can leave it at 200, and raise multiplier
1050t - multiplier locked at 14, and fsb 286 for 4GHz or 13.5 x 300.

of course you can go higher, but that's for 4ghz

Were just guessing on the processor prices tho i did pickup my 2600K for 319.99 which is very close to the list price per 1000. Newegg prices should be fairly close. Motherboard prices are accurate and available to be ordered today. We just have to wait a week or so on the processors.

The FSB wall is specific to this Biostar board. I'm not sure if other boards are facing a similar wall.

Basically once you hit a certain FSB number between 280-300, you won't be able to boot until you cross the FSB hole. I have no idea how big it is though.

You might want to give PROBN4LYFE a PM. He has got his 1055T above 4GHz on his TA890FXE.

Yeah, but what we're talking about now is whether or not he can even get his board to play with a 286 FSB.

Okay. Thank you for your response. Is there anymore info about SB vs Bulldozer? Generally the most CPU intensive applications will be games. Would I see an improvement in gaming performance if I waited until SB or Bulldozer?
