1 GB of space left on my BOOT SSD drive... please advise

I am having this problem (low space.. no error messages as of yet.), I foolishly purchased a small SSD and now only have 1Gb of free space on there, I am wondering what is my best option...

My idea is... Buy a new lager capacity SSD, format my current SSD, set-up RAID 0 with the two drives and clean install Win 7.

I am thinking this is the most efffective way to solve my problem, only thing is that I do not have any more SATA ports on my MOBO for another drive, so I will be purchasing an additional controller card should I choose this set-up...

Advice on what controller card I should purchase would be helpful, I have been researching and am very confused about

1-Form Factor- PCI-e or PCI-e 2.0 is there a benefit of one over the other, in research I can to understand that PCI-e allows for full SATA III speeds. I only have one Vidoe card installed currently but might be looking to expand to in the future.

2- RAID Support- Should I be looking to purchase a RAID controller card or justa a PCI-e/2.0 -SATA III expansion card, because my BIOS currently supports RAID 0/5?

If I am flawed in my perspective on how to deal with this low memory issue please advise as to a better solution to my problem.

If windows 7
c:/users/your acc/appdata/temp
delete everything in that folder
make sure minimum programs are running

(you need to enable show hidden folders in folder options)

Or download hirens boot disk and use the program that locates whats taking up large file space
It uses a very nice G.U.I. and is alot more helpful than you would think.

Cut some programs out of the program files folder and past them into your 1tb drive.
You shouldnt have a problem with compatibility , as everything is installed on your registry.

I wouldnt buy a larger SSD, you really just need your OS on it.

Good build BTW

I'm not sure how you have managed to make this situation sound so complicated.

Just swap out your SSD for a larger one.

Or just uninstall some games and reinstall on your 1TB drive?

Anyway, you should have not allowed it to happen in the first place.

im pretty sure you cannot RAID 2 drives of different capacities so you will have to buy the same one to RAID them, OR just put less stuff on the drive.....

oh yeah and SATA 3 isnt THAT good, you'd need a shed load of drives to reach the full speed, even with like 4 SSD's in raid you wouldnt use the full capacity of RAID 2

You can. You will just get double the capacity of the smaller drive and not the two drive capacities added together.

Would you recommend a RAID setup with my new SSD and my old one?

What new SSD are you planning to get? I would only think about adding another X25-V.

I only have the OS and MS Office installed... I feel foolish for even buying such a small SSD, but I thought... well we see how good I do that.... that with just these two programs I would be in good shape... then the automatic updates started rolling in...

Will do... I wasn't sure, but with the knowledge that I will only be able to mirror the lower capacity drive i might just buy another X25-V
