Downloading via Steam

Thread Starter
I recently downloaded the entire F.E.A.R collection via Steam (because it was on sale at only £5)... that included:
F.E.A.R
F.E.A.R - Extraction Point
F.E.A.R - Perseus Mandate
F.E.A.R 2 - Project Origin
F.E.A.R 2 - Reborn

which came to a total of the first three F.E.A.R games: 17GB and the last two F.E.A.R games: 14GB... this took two full days of downloading at aprox 500kb/s

Basically I want to know if I can backup the downloaded files to a disc, I know that steam has bassically downloaded the install files (not the disc files) and put them in my "steamapps" directory and I know that I can re-download the games again if I need to re-install my PC and I know that I can "back-up local game files" from the game properties menu...

If I back-up these "local game files" (the full :eek:31GB:eek:) to a set of 5 discs, can I use those discs to re-install the games???

(I dont want to have to download them again if I need to re-install windows because it is 31GB of files)

Yes. Just right click the game and go "Backup Games Files...". You can put multiple games in one backup, or do them all individually.

Hit the nail on the head, I do this all the time, I get my standard set of games installed and make one massive 200gb ISO of them from steam and a back up and throw it on my external harddrive.

If you do back them up you may need to copy the backup folder onto your pc somewhere and then run it but it will work.

First thing you should do before playing a game is to back it up, more so if it is a big game
