want to stop being monitored? there's an app for that

yeah i am also getting pretty sick of apple and their over-enthusiastic control of everything. it's like you can't do anything without the consent of mr big brother and it gets to be pretty annoying when you need some basic functionality. hello official downgrade of the software. not that they will take responsibility for releasing bad software in the first place, oh no.

m,ay never purchase another apple product again.

I swear they think they're the king and can do whatever they want like produce stuff they sell at really high prices. A laptop over $1000? That's ridiculous.

If you feel this way about Apple and the iPhone then simply don't buy it, they arent forcing you to. Theres a lot of great alternatives..

Surely there are disclaimers somewhere, like when you agree to the terms of use/service anytime you buy an app through the apple store, that state such things are possible through the use of the app, and that in using it you are agreeing to such things. I don't know for sure, I'm just assuming, given how specific companies always are with their TOS's. I'd be surprised if this goes anywhere.

Why don't you ask a moderator to close this? Better than having this little war between privacy with apple and android.

Meh, I just want the ability to change the default iPod/iPhone keyboard to something I like more (Swype or Shapewriter). I can't stand the default keyboard.

On topic, I hope this goes through. I don't want Dictionary.com to know when I'm in the porno shop-- They might find a way to effectively market to me.

Precisely my point. I bought an iPod touch and while it has been pleasant the lack of basic functionality my circa 2004 htc magician had (mass storage without wifi) is annoying. Not to mention how someone decided to change how movies get tagged in 4.2.1 and a bunch of other things, and I was unable to downgrade to working software because I had not jailbroken

I might not buy another apple product again
