LG Ally running processes and 3g data usage

Hey, I have two questions I was hoping you guys can help me with.

The first one has to do with running processes. I installed Advanced Task Killer from the Verizon Market place. I like the program since it's an easy way to kill Apps when I'm done with them. The issue is some of the apps showing up are ones I don't run and I don't want to run. Amazon MP3, Visual VM, etc. I have no interest in these and I don't even want them installed. How do I get them to stop running?

The second question has to do with 3g data usage. I tend to use this phone with wifi only. I bought the cheapest data package because I don't plan on using the web, etc away from open routers. As such, I don't want to go over my data usage with things like updates and email syncing going on when I'm roaming away from a router I trust. How can I do this?

1.) You don't stop them from running, Android task management is awesome, don't use that POS task killer. http://lifehacker.com/5650894/androi...uldnt-use-them

2.) Under Settings > Accounts and Sync > check Background data is off

3.) To truly get rid of those processes, you would have to root, then delete the .apks of the apps from /system, which is deleting the app itself.

Thanks for the reply. I read up on rooting it but I'm not sure I want to risk it.
