In fact, you are probably running on XP 32-bit. That means you will not benefit from 64-bit processing nor all your memory.
Well its clean & tidy & not much stuff running at the same time pointlessly hogging up all resources.

In any case I like it.

But your statement regarding 32 bit got me worried. even with latest games I never use up all 2GB ram I have atm & u saw earlier how much stuff im running all the time.

I know that win xp does not run on more than 3GB I tested, 3,2GB is max I get. So I just left it at 2gb.

so all i need is not more than 2GB. What worries me is that 64-bit processing you are talking about.

So if I decide to buy a notebook with i7 or I5 CPU + triple processing motherboard bandwidth + DDR3 ram & install win xp then I wont be able to use the full potential of the hardware?

will win xp 64 bit solve the issue? but wont all my programs stop working under 64 bit then?

btw I was just looking at the ram & http://www.kingston.com/hyperx/products/khx_ddr3.asp

Kingston DDR3 HyperX PC-10600 1333MHz 4GB CL9 (9-9-9-27)

I mean DDR3 & 27 summarized 27 is really really bad, isnt DDR2 800 way faster?

No in all regards.

64 bit OS is backwards compatible with just about everything except really low level stuff like drivers.

As for not using up 2GB of RAM; you definitely are using close to 2GB, thats why things are slow/choppy. Once the RAM hits 80% utilization then the disk starts getting hit for page file and general data requests quite heavily.

Just because the latency is higher, doesn't mean it is slower; I7+ DDR3 will have over twice the bandwidth, and almost half the latency of your existing setup.

Windows XP x64 is OK I suppose, but Windows 7 is a much more stable and enjoyable experience then XP ever was. Despite it seeming to be "heavier" then XP, performance will be around the same or better since it makes better use of your hardware resources.

Alright, a new powerful notebook seems to be pointless in this case, if it cant run xp fast then screw it, I dont need it then.

Change of plans.

I keep my current desktop & look for something cheap, portable, small & reliable, does not afraid of dust. So I can use it to do some text work with Ms word or watch an ordinary xvid 700MB 640x360 Movie.

Maybe something around 200-300$
so not too small screen, I think 10 inch is too small, I wonder is 13' is a good enough for this kind of work.?

1GB ram

not glossy screen

should boot from usb cuz I might try ubuntu run from USB edition

read write CD/DVD

Headphones Jack - YES ( for 5.1 speakers)
MIC Jack........- YES

small SSD around 10GB maybe

any suggestion hire?

You Cant build your own notebook....parts are specifially engineered to fit into certain notebook shells.....

you can however go to a notebook site...such as HP,Alienware,Sager, falconNW, or whatever and configure a notebook with the specs you want and have it built for you...

some of those specs you listed are not doable thou...
