Depending upon your computers firewall options, they might just drop the various packets Nmap sends. Dropped packets mean no reply, which means the IP address appears to not be in use. Though if you have no firewalls on any of your computers, then it is no problem.

not working

what I have is the IDSN going to my 16 port switch

i have a Dlink DIR 655 plugged into my switch

I want to access the router GUI from my XP machine hooked up to the switch.

I want to have my wireless router broadcast the wireless to a pc in my store

How is DHCP being handled? Is there any router above that 16 port switch?

Is the switch plugged into the Dlink 655 WAN or LAN port? Remote access to the routers config is disabled on the WAN interface.

Here are your options:

1. Plug the switch into one of the LAN ports on the Dlink, and enable security on the Dlink 655; this will run the router as a WAP (Wireless Access Point).

2. Go for the more traditional: ISDN->router -> switch. Then the router runs DHCP, wireless etc..

I need a certain PC facing the internet direct, without the router thats why.


i reset the router, im still unable to access the router via gui with switch
