Onboard audio on new motherboard worse than previous motherboard - Page 2

/Sigh SERIOUSLY guys? stop trolling the poor guy for trying to learn about audio.

To the OP:

Internal Soundcards usually offer a subpar quality to what a external DAC can provide. I wont go into details, because, well, I dont really feel like it . The reason USB headsets are not well regarded around the audiophile community is because of the fact that most of them use a poor built in sound card, and because it is USB it does not use the your sound card. Therefore 3.5mm inputs are generally better.

However, I suppose there is one exception, that being that if you do not care about auido as much as say an audiophile, and you do not want to buy a dedicated sound card, and you plan on just using onboard... then go ahead and get a usb headset, but dont buy a cheapo one, or it will suck. Just warning you.

I'm talking about like the Logitech G930 or the Plantronics Gamecom 777 or the Razer Megalodon. I've heard some good things about these headsets (all of them being surround sound) and they use a built in USB sound card. I want to avoid buying another sound card because one, I believe that most higher-end sound cards utilize a PCI x1 Slot that I don't have, and two, I don't want to hassle with installing new hardware, but if it has to result to that, I might just have to.

1. Plenty of good sound cards use PCI. You have that open.
2. You have 1 extra PCI-E X16 slot. Works the same as the X1 slot, so a sound card can go there.
