Need some vdroop assistance (L6740L)

Just can't seem to wrap my head around this one. I was thinking shorting or lowering resistance between ground and vdroop pin would lower or eliminate vdroop, but it didn't work. Board wouldn't post when I lowered the 3K resistance to 1.5K.

what about caps in series to lower resistance is that possible. It would keep the current where it needs to be while lowering the resistance of the circuit. Caps in parrellel. Cl explained it to me once under a diffrent context but I think its the same principle???

It's for a motherboard that is on loan. Don't really want to be doing any heavy modding to it. Just try'n to figure out a vdroop pencil mod.

Hey Pizzaman. Im looking for the exact same thingi. Made a thread just a few days ago. Is it the m4a79t deluxe boards U have on loan? Im trying to get answers from asus forum as we speak. Ill defenitly let U know if I get an answer

No it has the same chip.(m4a79t deluxe mobo). At least I`ve been told so. Im @ work so cant realy check it my self. Here is a pic of the mobo. Not a close up but fairly ok resolution.

U havent found out anything yet? If I read the datasheet right. Shouldnt this chip support LLC? Shorting pin #4 and #5??
